Get to Know Our Mission-Driven, Creative Brand.

What is KindHealth? Well, let’s start with the basics: KindHealth is a fast-growing all-in-one digital health insurance platform. It is made up of a physical building, computers, and lots of amazing people. Some of those people have children, some don’t; some are married, some are single; some run marathons and others break their ankles doing next-to-nothing. One of us has had open-heart surgery. In other words, we’re just like everybody else. And we hate the unnecessary complexity and confusion of health insurance just as much as you do.

Did you know that in a recent study 80% of people chose the wrong health insurance plan, when given only three choices?

After securing $4 million in capital funding, we’re aiming to end 2021 with a second round of $8 million, which will be used to hire 20 more talented people and accelerate our expansion to ensure Americans receive the best health care available.

KindHealth is Not Just a Health Insurance Company.

We’re also a brand. Not a logo, not a website, but a brand. At the most basic level, our brand is a model that exists in the minds of you, our customers. It’s a feeling. We want you to feel taken care of every time you submit an insurance application, visit our website or call a Kind Advisor. That feeling, that’s our brand.

That said, no one pretends that KindHealth is anything more than it is. We save you money by making smart recommendations for health insurance. You probably don’t care about our Instagram account or visit our blog regularly. We’re a means to an end. We’re completely utilitarian.

We also believe in honesty and we hate clichés. The reality is it’s as much a grind to build a digital platform to solve these problems for you as it is for you to try and navigate this industry on your own. But if you’re going to get bills and buy insurance and fill prescriptions, we wanted to at least make sure that you save as much money as possible, as easy as possible. That’s just good for business.

And until the industry changes completely, we’ll keep fighting the good fight.

Where Do Designers Fit into Fighting the Good Fight?

KindHealth is a growing company aiming to take the guesswork and uncertainty out of health insurance. A small and intimate (but rapidly growing) start-up, we are transforming the industry by valuing collaboration, problem solving, and empathy with a unique mission. There are only so many seats at the table and all voices are heard.

KindHealth is not prescriptive. There is no single bullet point list describing the work for the day. The problems we aim to solve are real and the answers are undefined. KindHealth is the type of company that is responsive and works to understand the fears of its customers, so our employees feel good at the end of the day about the work they are doing. We are united in a purpose to make insurance less confusing, complex and expensive. We do all of the following and more:

  • Create innovative ways that allow the consumer to choose the best insurance plans
  • Develop the best user experience possible by understanding the end user
  • Improve the user experience for our own agents as they connect with members in creative and unique ways
  • Integrate with enterprise partners to service their employees, offering custom tools to help them navigate new opportunities

Are You A Designer?

KindHealth is seeking a Principal Designer who can brainstorm and implement bold ideas that solve real-world problems for our customers. Principal designers are a key piece in our collaborative, creative ecosystem.

Unlike other companies in our industry, KindHealth employees have a stake in all that we do. We empower our people with the responsibility and freedom to embrace challenges, shape our organization, and accomplish goals. As a principal designer, you’ll have an authentic, valued voice and a seat at the decision-making table.

How Designers Shape Our Work.

KindHealth thrives on individuals who wield unconventional thinking and stamp their own thumbprints into our products. Designers are tasked with making expert-level design decisions as well as implementing best-loved and tested ideas. They drive our creative problem-solving by centering the user experience in all they do.

In partnership with product managers, engineers, and senior management, designers follow the creation process from conception to launch, ensuring that a design-thinking methodology is applied throughout.

A principal designer at KindHealth must be a thoughtful listener who can take customer feedback and collaborate across departments. In our company, employees often work across multiple departments including engineering, sales, marketing, front-line, etc.

Part of the job here is to solicit and evaluate feedback across areas effectively, thereby creating a product that truly reflects our company values and consumer demands. As a creative thinker, you will understand that there is rarely a single right or wrong answer, and you will be energized by the responsibility to identify, test, and implement desired solutions.

Designers identify connections between products and communications channels. At the end of a product launch, a successful principal designer will have inspired stakeholders, customers, and teammates alike.

What We Are Seeking in A Principal Designer.

In addition to the design and content strategy experience of a typical senior level designer, we are looking for someone who will embrace the KindHealth culture by moving transparently and inclusively. Applicants should be excited to work on a team in a remote environment. They must balance being an entrepreneurial self-starter with their collaborative, team player approach.

Most importantly, the right person will understand our vision and be motivated to push our work forward. As a company, we are not just a logo, website, or product. We aim to be a brand that makes our customers feel welcome and cared for. A designer will materialize our mission into tried and tested products that meet people’s needs.

We recognize that a customer’s trust should never be taken for granted, which is why we aim to build products that respond to their needs and earn their loyalty. We aim to be truly accountable to the customers who are most impacted by our design, product, and business decisions, and this is why a compassionate mindset is a key requirement to working at KindHealth.
